Keep your hair gorgeous this summer!
Summer Haircare Without the Fuss
A little sunshine is lovely. A scorched scalp and dry ends? Not so much.
Summer’s great for the soul but not always great for your hair. Between UV rays, humidity, salt water, and tying it up constantly, things can get a bit fuzzy. If your hair starts to feel like it’s had one cocktailtoo many, here’s how to look after it without overcomplicating things.
1. Give your scalp some attention
Your scalp is skin. It burns, dries out, and reacts to the heat just like the rest of you. If you’re spending time outside, a UV-protectant spray is worth it – especially if your parting is exposed or your hair’s coloured. No need to go wild, just a few spritzes before heading out can make all the difference, or using Kevin Murphy’s blow dry shampoo and conditioner will help proitect it from the heat in one step! most Kevin Murphy products are now available in mini sizes too! Fab for travelling!
2. Moisture, moisture, moisture
Hot weather dries hair out, even more so if it’s already been coloured or lightened. A weekly hydrating mask is your best friend right now. Not heavy, not greasy – just enough to restore a bit of balance and softness. Ask us about the OWAY Moisturising Mask if you’re not sure where to start. It’s a firm favourite in the salon. Gone. tad far without a treatment? Ask your stylist about Ypres! Our new salon miracle….
3. Rinse before you swim
If you’re heading into the sea or a pool, rinsing your hair first helps protect it. Wet hair soaks up less salt and chlorine, which means less drying and less colour fade. It’s a small step, but a smart one.
4. Be gentle with the messy bun!
The urge to throw it all up in a bun is strong, but tight styles can lead to breakage – especially when hair is dry or wet. Opt for soft scrunchies or a low braid instead. It keeps the hair protected without putting too much strain on it.
5. Don’t skip your visits
Summer heat, sun, and tying your hair up all the time means split ends. Regular trims every couple of months will keep things feeling fresh and manageable, rather than dry and snappy.
6. Let your tools have a break
Try to air-dry your hair when you can. If you’re styling with heat, always use protection (spray, not wishful thinking). Less heat means more shine and less breakage.
7. Need a hand? We’re always here

Final word
Summer haircare doesn’t need to be complicated. A few tweaks to your routine, a bit of hydration, and staying on top of trims can make a huge difference.
