Two whole decades

Its 2026. Ive been thinking a lot about the business, as it’s been 20 whole years since we opened this year. Things have changed.. a lot… in 2006, I decided to open a salon. I begged, stole and borrowed what furniture I could, we visited Ikea, a lot… and opened on a shoestring. It suited the rustic, organic vibes of the salon, and slowly but surely, I replaced the office chairs with salon ones, the Ikea mirrors with salon specific ones… I took on some staff, I grew the clientele, I tried all of the organic colours and products there was to try at the time, and I loved every minute. We were just a bunch of hairdressers, having a laugh and being daft, meeting fabby clients along the way.

Things progressed over the years. Products got better, more and more people realised that vegan and organic actually was a good idea, and slowly, we grew and grew. I cant believe the change in Leith over those years, how many lovely places have opened up around us, and of course the endurance test that was the tram works, the parking changes, the pandemic, the salon move, the cost of living crisis, but against all the odds, we made it to twenty years.

That’s not some fluke, or some coincidence.. it’s because of the team I get to work with every day. All of them.. past and present, who have supported me along the way, that have had my back at every hurdle, and have joined me in all the laughs and fun that we have had over the last twenty years.

And you…. the lovely clients that have come in time and time again…. the “how can it be 20 years?!” ones, the “your kids are HOW OLD?” ones, the annual trim ones, the ‘cutting I, growing it cutting it, growing it’ ones… the “DO NOT let me get a fringe” ones and the die hard six week bookers… We love you. For keeping the business going, for believing in us, year after year.. for supporting us through all the 2020 palavers and for being the reason I love my job so much.

So… who knew when I signed that first five year lease in 2006, that id be writing this now…. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Emma xxx
